Little Graces
Little Graces
I appreciate bar tenders – who remember your name,
And smile at your stories – they treat everyone the same.
I am grateful for a jukebox – loaded with Patsy and Neal,
Restless souls and troubadours who know exactly how I feel
When I’m a long, long, way from where I want to be
A little North of Georgia and East of Tennessee
But like a candle in a window or a cozy corner bar
I find little graces where they are.
Now I sure do love fried chicken – and a side of collard greens.
The smells of Irene’s kitchen – brings back what family means.
On my 23rd birthday, she baked me a cake,
And mailed it to me across the ocean- it was so good for goodness sake.
I was a long, long, way from where I want to be
A little North of Georgia and East of Tennessee,
But like opening a letter or a pickle from a jar
I find little graces where they are.
Now there’s magic in a guitar – and an old time melody.
And friends around a campfire, who want to sing along with me.
And I do believe there’s greatness – in a little lightening bug
All wonder and perfection, little flashes of God’s love.
When I’m a long, long, way from where I want to be
A little North of Georgia and East of Tennessee
But like seeing an old friend, or a shooting star.
I find little graces where they are.

Traveling Shoes
Traveling Shoes
Whatever it is that you need to do
Do it now – Do it now
When you feel that spirit moving you
Do it now – Do it now
It’s a long, long way; It’s a winding road
There are friends to be found, and stories to be told
You’ve got to take that first step, and carry your load
And you’ve got to do it now
Whatever it is that you need to say
Say it now – Say it now
Don’t let that fear get in your way
Say it now – any how
It’s a long, long way; It’s a winding road
There are friends to be found, and stories to be told
You’ve got to take that first step, and carry your load
And you’ve got to do it now
There’ll never be a better time
Don’t get stuck in those old blues
There’s no telling what you’ll find
All God’s children got traveling shoes
So wherever it is that you need to go
Go there now – Go there now
Just pack your bags and pay the toll
And go there now – Go there now
It’s a long, long way; it’s a winding road
There are friends to be found, and stories to be told
You’ve got to take that first step, and carry your load
And you’ve got to do it now.
There’ll never be a better time
Don’t get stuck in those old blues
There’s no telling what you’ll find
All God’s children got traveling shoes
Whomever it is that you need to love
Love them now – Love them now
Show the World what you’re thinking of
And love them now – Love them now
It’s a long, long way; It’s a winding road
There are friends to be found, and stories to be told
You’ve got to take that first step, and carry your load
And you’ve got to do it now – You’ve got to do it now
I say you’ve got to do it now.

I’m With You
I’m With You
I’m with you
I’m with you
From the day that we first met
And through the years don’t you forget
That I’m with you
We laugh and talk all night//
Laugh and talk, cry and wait
Play guitar ‘till our fingers ache
When I’m with you
Chorus
And even when we’re apart
We are still together
Because we know that in our hearts
We’re not just friends,
We’re friends forever
And I’m with you//
If you’re feeling down or feeling blue
I’ll do anything that you need me to
Cause I’m with you
——-
We go driving in the car//
Music up, windows down
We go all around this town
When I’m with you
A cooler and a fishing pole//
Cooler, pole and lemonade
I think that I got is made
When I’m with you
Chorus
We can do anything//
Anything, anywhere, anyhow I’ll be there
Cause I’m with you
We never have too far to go//
Across the miles across the tracks
I got your number I got your back
Yes I’m with you
Chorus
I’m With You
You Carry My Love
You Carry My Love
Silly Girls, with their petty jealousies and little lies
They want to tear you down
They act your friend, talk behind your back and give you alibies
To impress someone else around
But you know better, than how they make you feel
And you know true friendship, and what they give’s not real
And you have me, so remember that…
You carry my love, everywhere you go,
You carry my love with you ll
Silly boys with their posturing their egos and their games
They’re scared of who you are
They piss all over and act as if they’ve showered you with rain
Growing only battle scars
But you are deeper, than damage they may do
And you deserve better so go find something true
Pick yourself up, and you just move on girl
You carry my love, everywhere you go,
You carry my love with you ll
So when you feel afraid
When you’ve reached the end of your rope
When you learn that you’ve been played
You still follow higher rules and don’t you give up hope.
In the darkest hour, the longest mile or mountain top high
Search your heart and you’ll find me there
Amid the noise and the chaos, I’ll be your lullaby
And when you’re tired I’ll be your rocking chair
So keep on keeping on, and you will find a way
You’re stronger than strong, and tomorrow’s a new day
Look to yourself, you’ll see you’re beautiful – so be beautiful – only beautiful and
You carry my love, everywhere you go,
You carry my love with you
You carry my love, everywhere you go,
You carry my love with you – with you
You Carry my love with you – with you.
You Carry My Love
Learning to Listen
Learning to Listen
I am learning to listen
I am learning to wait
I am hoping for connection I am standing at the gate
I have walked me a long mile
With the wind in my face
I am learning to listen
I am learning to wait
The earth in its motion
The wind in its song
The birds in their calling
The newness of the dawn
Keeps me seeking the stillness
And the love that carries on
The earth in its motion
The wind in its song
I am calling you
I am calling you
I am calling you
I am here
I am here
I am nothing but thankful
There is nothing but Grace
In the comforting quiet
Of my heart’s resting place
I am slowly becoming,
The love that I trace
I am learning to listen
I am learning to wait.
I am calling you
I am calling you
I am calling you
I am here
I am here

Tim’s Folder
Tim’s Folder
Has anybody seen Tim’s folder, it’s green?
It might just turn up near the washing machine
With laundry and thoughts that are folded and clean
And a shadow of doubt about what anything means.
Has anybody had a broken heart
That made you so mad and ripped you apart?
And left such a mess, you didn’t know where to start
Until one day you up and just did.
Ask me why I’m here, (Why are you here?)
Some days it’s not very clear.
I go around and around (Around and Around)
What is lost must surely be found.
Has anybody drawn an image so strong
That it stayed in your mind like a missing right arm?
And filled up your soul like a rising tide
With an ebb and a flow of a love that abides.
Has anybody heard a phrase or a word,
And you followed its tale like a mockingbird?
To a deep, dark place where it finally flew
‘Til it hummed and it shined like it was written for you.
Ask me why I’m here, (Why are you here?)
Some days it’s not very clear.
I go around and around (Around and Around)
What is lost must surely be found. ||
Has anybody felt the heat of that light
That touches your heart in the dark of your night
And wakes you right up like a lightening strike?
Like something you remembered that you know.
Has anybody found lost things all around
When in search of something else and you’ve turned your house upside down
*And what goes around, will come back around
And what is lost will surely be found ||*

Dance With Me
Dance With Me
Count the clouds in the sky
Birds flying by
Count the crest of each wave
Like pictures we save
Count the grains of sand
That we sift through our hands
Like so many days
Just slipping away
Dance with me
Dance with me
Dance with me again
It’s harder than we ever thought
And it’s easy as pie
Sometimes we walk
And sometimes we fly
And I’ll never forget
All we haven’t done yet
We won’t always succeed
But we’ll always try
So, Dance with me
Dance with me
Dance with me again
Turn me around, and around, around and around
And around, and around and around
Lift me up so high, so I fly through the sky and then
Gently set me back down – set me back down
Like birches that bend
As Autumn winds blow
Leaves die and fall
So others can grow
And my mind drifts along
On the edge of a song
Of days we have seen
And days still to go
So, Dance with me
Dance with me
Dance with me again
Dance With Me
Jericho
Jericho
Take a step back; you’re moving way too fast now
Too much worry on your mind
You need to relax; there are things to do now
Each one to its own time
Consider this; the lilies of the field
Consider ocean tides
We will plow, we will plant, we will yield
But we won’t stop time
We are falling flying, tumbling through space
We are many, we are few, we are one
Take some time to feel the wind upon your face
As we make another trip around the sun
What did you expect, the world to fall down before you
Did you want a cup of tea?
All that you know, all that you need
Is right there within you – and it is wider than the sea
Consider this; the whir of hummingbirds
Consider cows in the field
We will stand, we will strive, we will stir
We will borrow we will steal
Look out your window and you will see
How all the earth is made perfectly
Stretch your arms out to the horizons curve
And ask yourself the purpose you want to serve…
Who do you serve; who do you serve
Who do you serve; who do you serve?
So what’s the word, what’s the perfect phrase?
What will be your best line?
We only have the length of our days
And the ones we leave behind
Consider this; the walls of Jericho
Consider stone upon stone
With the battle cry, you know you must go
But you will never go alone
We are falling, flying, tumbling through space…
Alleluia – Alleluia

BALL AND CHAIN
I got money in my pocket
I’m gonna catch that midnight train
I’m gonna steal your heart and lock it
To my body like a ball and chain
Ball and Chain (Ball and Chain)
Ball and Chain (Ball and Chain)
Darlin let me be your ball and chain
I’m gonna steal your heart and lock it
To my body like a ball and chain
I got new boots from the thrift shop
I got my favorite blue jeans on
I’ll put my money in that jukebox
Find a way to play your favorite song.
Favorite song (Favorite Song)
Favorite song (Favorite Song)
Darlin let me be your favorite song
I’ll put money in that jukebox
And find a way to be your favorite song
I got a little house in Georgia
I got tomatoes on the vine
I got supper waitin’ for ya
And a thousand ways to show your mine
A thousand ways (A Thousand Ways)
A thousand ways (A Thousand Ways)
Darlin let me be your thousand ways.
I got supper waitin for ya
And a thousand ways to show your mine
I hear that train in the distance
I hear that song on the radio
I gave up all my resistance
To you baby oh so long ago
So long ago (Long Ago)
Long ago (Long Ago)
Darlin let me be your long ago
I hear that train in the distance
Darlin let me be your long ago
I’ve got money in my pocket
I’m gonna catch that midnight train
I’m gonna steal your heart and lock it
To my body like a ball and chain

Simple Things
Simple Things
My favorite way to eat a peach is standing at my sink.
Looking out at my back yard, just thinking what I think
Thoughts of summer afternoons – the goodness of old friends
I bite into that sweetness, let it roll on down my chin
And I say a little prayer of thanks just standing at my sink.
My favorite way to take a nap is with a baby on my chest.
On the couch with a football game, I tell you it’s the best.
The rhythm and the stillness – the promises I’ll keep.
I breath in that baby smell and fall right to sleep.
And I say a little prayer of thanks, with a baby on my chest.
My favorite way to pass a night is playing this guitar.
Just me and the dog, the moon and the stars.
The crickets in their compline, the wind in the trees.
I’m happy just to play along with songs such as these.
And I sing a little prayer of thanks, just playing this guitar.
My favorite way to take a walk is with you by my side.
Sand underneath our feet and the rising of the tide.
The sound of the water – the ebb and the flow
And knowing that you’d come with me anywhere I go.
I say a little prayer of thanks when you’re walking by my side.
Now my life is full of simple things, but wisdom I can give.
Take time to appreciate the life that you live.
Taste of the sweetness, and listen to the earth,
And love on those close to you for all that you’re worth
And say a little prayer of thanks, in the simple things.
Yes, say a little prayer of thanks for those wondrous simple things.

My Sweet Boy
My Sweet Boy
How did I miss the conversation,
Of the things you didn’t want to say?
I should have known, because you are one of my own,
And the easy path is not your way.
Is it the weight of expectation
That pulls us all down
To the place we cannot see what should or shouldn’t be
When we’re lost or when we’re found?
It’s a great big, crazy world
My Sweet Boy, whatcha gonna do?
Don’t you know to have faith in yourself?
Don’t you know I have faith in you?
Oh you with the big heart
Why do you try to hide your smile
When you work so hard to please, it can bring you to your knees
Every once in a while.
I’ve seen you push past disappointment
I know you have your share of scars
But let yourself be, you know, the one who made the seas,
Made you perfect as you are.
It’s a great big, beautiful world
Oh My Sweet Boy, whatcha gonna do?
Don’t you know to have faith in God?
Don’t you know he has faith in you?
So cast your net upon the future.
Set your shoulders to the task
The world needs a man who can work with his hands
There’s nothing better than that.
I am watching you grow wiser
The earth spins away the night
Today becomes the past and my love will always last
Hold fast to what’s right – hold fast
Hold fast to what’s right
It’s a great big, crazy world
My Sweet Boy, whatcha gonna do?
Don’t you know to have faith in yourself?
Don’t you know I have faith in you?
My Sweet Boy
Love Stays
Love Stays
Katie Girl you’re on your way
Heading West to Tennessee
You thought you’d never see the day
And now it’s like it’s meant to be
All those books and papers to write
Laughing with your friends and staying up all night
Poetry and turns of phrase
That made your heart fly off the page
It seems to me, that in everything you do
Love stays with you
Now I feel like I should give you some advice
But most you already know
Hold on to the ones you love real tight
And let the small stuff go
Be gentle on the earth, remember what you leave behind
Do good work and pay your bills on time
To everyone you meet, be kind and fair
Scrub your teeth and say your prayers
But this above all, to thine own self be true
And love will stay with you
Love is patient, love is kind
Love does not boast and is never rude
Love does not keep a jealous mind
And all resentment is removed
Love rejoices in what’s right
It bears all and believes
Love finds hope in the darkest night
Love endures and never leaves
Now I wish for you bright, sunny days
And friends you hold dear
Nights full of music and stars
And a campfire near
Quiet moments and hikes good and long
That you drive down the highway to a favorite song
That your light so shines and you carry from this place
Good memories and lessons of grace
Just stay who you are – cause you’ve always been true blue
And love will stay…..yes love will always stay…
Love will stay with you.
Love Stays

I’m gonna steal your heart and lock it
To my body like a ball and chain
Ball and Chain (Ball and Chain)
Ball and Chain (Ball and Chain)
Darlin let me be your ball and chain
I’m gonna steal your heart and lock it
To my body like a Ball and Chain
To my body like a Ball and Chain
To my body like a ball and chain
Ball and Chain
